Our 7 Step Process

design-build remodeling firm brings design and construction professionals together under one roof, creating a seamless process from concept to completion. At Innovative Interior Designs LLC, our collaborative team works closely with clients to evaluate design, functionality, feasibility, and existing architecture, delivering customized solutions that balance style, quality craftsmanship, and budget while bringing each client’s vision to life.

Step 1:
Initial Interview

This meeting is a mutual interview – we want to make sure that we are the right fit for our client and that the project is handled in the manner in which each client expects. During this interview we learn about an overview of the project each client wants to accomplish. We learn about why the project is necessary that includes lifestyle, use and desire information. We discuss existing and anticipated materials to be used in the new space and discuss the desired finished look and feel. We talk about budget generally in this interview to make sure the scope is within the realm of your desired budget. We measure your space so that designs can be produced.

Step 2:
Feasibility Study

Our team discusses the interview, reviews photos and measurements to come up with how a project can be accomplished.

Step 3:
Design Plan

Our team generates a plan (or multiple if needed to provide information as it relates to budget) that considers relationship of spaces to each other, form, function and style. We consider traffic patterns, sound transmission, lighting effects (natural and artificial) and overall use.

Step 4:
Design Development

This phase creates a comprehensive project plan, including detailed material selections, cost estimates, and all requirements necessary for construction. Building codes are reviewed, and meetings with trades and specialty contractors may be conducted to ensure accuracy and completeness. The resulting Design Development documents include drawings, material specifications, budgets, and schedules, providing a clear roadmap for the project and minimizing surprises during construction. The design development fee is typically about 2% of the budget established in the Feasibility Study and is credited toward the final contract upon acceptance.

Step 5:
Presentation

We next present the final Feasibility Study and Design Development plans to the client. Story boards and estimate documents are presented for review with the client.

Step 6:
Pre-construction Conference

After the acceptance of the Design Plan and Estimate, a contract is signed and a project schedule is put into place. A production meeting will take place at the client’s home with all sub-contractors to review final plans and installation procedures. Permits will be sought at this time.

Step 7:
Construction/ Installation

Our principal designer and project manager, Melissa Sharbaugh will continue to work with you throughout this process. She will focus on the client’s individual needs and goals. She will oversee all aspects of construction activity and installation of chosen materials. She will be present on most days and will provide updates as frequently as necessary. She will answer all questions and provide progress overviews. Communication and collaboration among the designer, client, construction team and vendors are all equally important and will be organized by the project manager.
